With Honda having just announced details of its new CR-Z racing program in partnership with Mugen, video of the car’s first shakedown test has gone public.

Competing in the Super GT series in Japan the CR-Z GT is will be piloted by Formula Nippon driver Daisuke Nakajima. Rather than a modified version of the 1.5-liter hybrid engine used in the production car the racing version gets a twin-turbo 2.8-liter V6 mated to a new hybrid system in a chassis that weighs roughly 2,650 lbs.

The car will take its first competition laps in round four of the Super GT series on the weekend of July 28-29.
