Famed Ford tuner Shelby American has revealed that it’ll be heading to the 2013 Detroit Auto Show with several new products for its consumers,  including one surprise.

Quoting the late Carroll Shelby, Shelby American Vice President Gary Patterson gave a hint as to what to expect, saying, “I think you’re going to see the industry going completely to small engines with turbochargers. That’s the only way you can get the mileage that the government is going to be demanding.”

Now clearly that’s a strong indication that Shelby American is well aware that Ford’s EcoBoost is the future for the American automaker, and Shelby could already be embracing the true potential of smaller powerplants equipped with forced induction. Given how popular EcoBoost has been for Ford, it wouldn’t be a surprise for Shelby to really show off what the turbocharged engines can do.

AutoGuide will be live from the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, so stay tuned to see what Shelby American has to unveil.
