Testing is underway after earlier spy photos of the new Subaru WRX emerged this morning showing the car driving to the Nurburgring.
Subaru brought a concept version of the car to the New York Auto Show last month, debuting what looks like a more mature version of the brand’s rally-inspired car. Outstanding features in that car included striking headlights and a grille that looked like it took styling cues form Jaguar. The concept also wears a carbon fiber roof, although a Subaru spokesman downplayed the possibility of it reaching the production car.

What’s more likely to make factory specifications, on the other hand, is a version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer engine currently found in the Forester XT. In that application, it makes 250 hp and 259 lb-ft of torque, although its capable of quite a bit more. In fact, the Japanese market Legacy uses a more finely tuned version with 296 hp and 295 lb-ft.
