This year was a busy year for AutoGuide as we put dozens of vehicles to the test in hopes of making your purchasing decision not only easier, but well informed. As we head into 2014, let’s take a look back at 2013’s most watched videos.
Starting off the list is our comparison video pitting the Ford Fusion against the new Mazda6. Both vehicles are stylish, efficient and fun family sedans that have quite the history together. In 2006, the two automakers were producing the Fusion and Mazda6 on the same platform as Ford held a one-third ownership stake in Mazda. But times have changed and the Mazda6 and Ford Fusion are now standing on their own. How do the two compare against one another?

One of our personal favorite videos of the year, AutoGuide did a battle of new versus old, grabbing a 1998 Acura Integra Type-R and seeing how it held up against a 2013 Honda Civic Si. While the Civic Si isn’t exactly built to have the same performance focus that the Type-R did when it was first developed, it’s an interesting contrast to see where the Japanese automaker stands today in terms of a true front-wheel drive competitor on the market.

This year, Infiniti launched its new nomenclature across its model lineup, changing the popular G37 sedan nameplate to Q50. At the same time, the luxury automaker ushered in a new generation of its hot-selling model, giving the Q50 more aggressive styling and a host of new technologies. The big question is, does the Infiniti Q50 live up to its name?

In today’s competitive automotive marketplace, finding the right midsized sedan is a daunting task. Even if you’re loyal to a particular automaker, it’s hard to ignore all the attractive options that are available. So that’s why AutoGuide decided to do a comparison on available 2013-2014 midsized sedans to find which one offered the most, for the least. The epic shootout involved the Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Mazda6, Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy, Volkswagen Passat and Toyota Camry.

When it comes to shopping for a pickup truck, it’s no surprise that Ford, Chevy and Ram are near the top of many shoppers’ list. So how exactly does the Toyota Tundra hold up against the competition? Not only was AutoGuide interested to see how the new 2014 Tundra improves, but so did our readers. Available with three engine options, including a 5.7-liter V8 with 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque, there’s a lot the Tundra offers that warrants giving it a closer look. It’s also the only half-ton pickup that fully conforms to the SAE J2807 towing standard.

Arguably two of the most popular family sedans available on today’s market, AutoGuide compared the 2013 Toyota Camry to the 2013 Honda Accord. Both vehicles have their advantages and disadvantages, but both also appeal to the same demographic. The Camry and the Accord also both recently get some attention from their respective automakers, getting overhauled and redesigned to stay modern. Choosing the right one might come down to the details, which the following video focuses on.

The crossover segment is booming this year, and will be for the next coming years. As minivans fall out of style, crossovers have become the perfect alternative for families with the Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4 being two of the most compelling options in today’s market. Both are stylish and compact with starting prices in the $25,000 range, offering similar performance and fuel efficiency. But the big question is, which is more exciting to drive and own?

Is there a place in the market for a Mercedes-Benz model that starts at under $30,000? The German automaker was confident that style, luxury and performance could be had on a budget and the early success of the CLA proves it to be true. The CLA made a private debut at the Detroit Auto Show as an attractive four-door coupe heavily inspired by the CLS. With the goal of attracting young buyers to the brand, the CLA is already considered a success even in its infancy.

The Subaru WRX concept was a show stopper when it was unveiled earlier this year at the New York Auto Show. Unfortunately, the Japanese automaker toned down a lot of its elements for the production model, which debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Though some WRX enthusiasts are understandably disappointed that Subaru left so much of the concept off the production model, there’s still the more powerful and sportier STI to look forward to.

AutoGuide‘s most watched video of 2013 compared two cars from two different countries built with one goal in mind: exhilarating performance. We’re talking a formidable showdown between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, power versus traction and engine displacement versus turbo. And of course a true comparison between the Ford Mustang Boss 302 and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR simply had to take place at a racetrack. Of course there aren’t many sports car enthusiasts out there that would be cross-shopping these two models, but clearly the interest was high to see which offered more bang for the buck.
In total, this video was watched almost one million times!
