Covering virtually all forms of motorsports, F1 cars, prototypes, GT racers and off-road cars were all present and accounted for. Although some serious machines are in attendance in Detroit, the following five stand out as something a little extra special, whether it be they are all-new, completely crazy or both.

Toyota-Funny-Car-1

Toyota entered the big leagues of NHRA drag racing a while ago now, but the image of an 8,000 hp Camry spitting flames out of either side makes us laugh like a College student in Colorado.

Acura-TLX-GT-1

Acura has a long history in the World Challenge racing series, so with the introduction of the new mid-size TLX means an all-new racecar must also come forth. Powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 powering all four wheels, the TLX GT is poised to enter the top level GT class and clash with Ferraris and Porsches this year.

Ford-F-150-2-7-Ecoboost-1

With an all-new F-150 just introduced, Ford has been hard at work testing its mettle. Using a new aluminum body stickered to look like the 2014 F-150, the Baja race truck competed using the new 2.7 liter ecoboost V6 engine.

Mazda-Skyactiv-LMP2-1

Mazda’s newest prototype racecar is set to battle in the new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship in the LMP2 class. Powered by over 450 hp from a turbocharged diesel four-cylinder engine, the new race car carries more than a few styling cues from the legendary 787B

Chevrolet-Corvette-C7-R-1

Chevrolet has pretty much had its way in various GT classes of ALMS for over a decade now. In hopes to continue this trend, the all-new Corvette C7.R has just been introduced. It looks as ferocious as the car it is based on; the new 2015 Corvette Z06.
