Did you forget about the Volkswagen Beetle Dune concept that debuted earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show?
The German automaker has released a new batch of photos as the company continues to mull over producing the Beetle Dune. The beach-ready compact is based on the Beetle Turbo with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder providing 210 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. But what makes the Beetle Dune unique is that the German automaker raised its ride height by two inches and outfitted it with 19-inch wheels, a rear-mounted ski/snowboard rack and a fake skidplate up front.

Though the concept was in front-wheel drive form, a production Beetle Dune could benefit from all-wheel drive capability. It seems likely that Volkswagen wants to produce the Beetle Dune, mentioning in its release, “While it remains a concept car, everything about it is feasible – it is practically a production vehicle.”
Would you line up at your local Volkswagen dealership if the German automaker decided to produce its Beetle Dune?
