McLaren-650S-Sprint-3

McLaren’s track-only 650 S Sprint was on display today at Pebble Beach as part of an impressive presence for the British sports car brand.

The hardcore performance special comes with special paint and revised body work along with a stripped interior in the name of shaving down lap times. At its center, the same 3.8-liter turbocharged V8 is at work, but through revised engine and transmission calibrations. McLaren also improved the Brake Steer system for this car and altered the active aerodynamics in the name of performance enhancement.

That means more downforce for the Sprint than its street-legal sibling along with improved engine cooling via revised air intakes. Despite the hardcore performance focus, McLaren chose to retain air conditioning to keep the car – which also features different seats, a six-point racing harness and an FIA-approved roll cage – from being unbearable to sit in.

Aside from that, the car also sits lower to the ground on a revised set of adaptive dampers as well as 19-inch center-locking racing wheels wrapped in Pirelli slick or wet racing tires. Behind those wheels there are a set of race-prepped brakes designed to let the  650 S Sprint start braking later into a corner. The company hasn’t said what it plans to charge for the track-focused vehicle in the U.S., but in the U.K. it will cost £198,000 ($332,365).
