2015 Porsche 911 Carerra GTS Revealed With 430 HP

Porsche just released details of the 991 generation 911 Carrera GTS, a bridge between the Carrera S and GT3.

There will be a total of four GTS variants available: coupes and convertibles in both rear and all-wheel drive. The new additions to Porsche’s 991 family brings the total model count to a staggering 19 models.

The latest version of Porsche’s current 911 comes with a 3.8-liter flat six just like the Carrera S, but output increases from 400 to 430 hp courtesy of a combination between the Sport Chrono package and sport exhaust. Porsche Active Suspension Management dampers lower the rear ride height by 10 millimeters.

Porsche will offer the cars with either a manual transmission or a seven-speed PDK. Equipped with the dual-clutch transmission, the rear-wheel drive GTS will sprint to 60 MPH in 3.8 seconds or four seconds for the convertible. Acceleration times for the manual transmission model weren’t released, but the company did say that the rear-wheel drive model equipped with a manual transmission is capable of the highest top speed within the range at just over 190 MPH.

Those figures mean that the GTS model is one tenth of a second quicker to 60 MPH and capable of a top track speed two MPH above the Carerra S.
Efficiency, according to Porsche, is unchanged over the Carrera S model range.

Standard equipment for the cars include Bi-Xenon headlights, the sport exhaust, an Alcantara-trimmed interior. The car comes with 20-inch center-lock wheels, but more importantly all versions of the car ride on the same widened track as the Carrera 4S.

Porsche plans to charge a starting price of $115,195 including delivery or $127,095 for the convertible model with rear-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive Carrera 4 GTS starts at $121,895 for the coupe or $133,795 for the convertible. All for of the new 911 GTS models will be available in U.S. Porsche showrooms by the end of the year.
