Of the 4,342 claims a total of 244 have been deemed eligible and the deadline for victims to file claims was January 31. The American automaker originally linked just 13 deaths to the ignition switch recall, a number that has grown significantly since the compensation fund was setup. The company is estimated to pay out between $400 million to $600 million in compensation to victims, but that number could still grow.
