Nearly two-thirds of vehicle owners in a recent survey do not trust Volkswagen.
AutoPacific conducted a survey that revealed only one out of four vehicle owners have a positive opinion of Volkswagen following the dieselgate scandal, compared to three out of four prior to hearing the news. In addition, the survey data revealed that 64 percent of respondents do not trust Volkswagen. The same percentage believes other automakers are, or may be, using defeat devices on their diesel vehicles.
It’s not just the Volkswagen brand that is being affected either. Those surveyed also saw their opinion of Audi has eroded with 29 percent now saying they have a favorable opinion of the brand, compared to 69 percent before the dieselgate scandal broke.

The survey asked more than 500 vehicle owners on their perception of Volkswagen and the future of the diesel market in the U.S. The only good news for the German automaker, if you even want to call it that, is that those surveyed believe the diesel scandal is less serious than the recent GM and Toyota problems.
Only eight percent of those surveyed believe the diesel scandal will “lead to the death of diesel sales in the U.S.”
