Toyota’s smallest hybrid has been updated for the 2017 model year.
As one of the most affordable hybrid models available in today’s market, the Toyota Prius c now comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS-C) driver-assistance suite on all model grades. The system was an option on two Prius c grades on the 2016 model and includes Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Assist and Automatic High Beams. Accompanying the standard technology is a refreshed exterior, sporting a redesigned front fascia, rear bumper, side rocker panels and blacked-out rear spoiler. All models also now come standard with alloy wheels.
Measuring 158.7-inches long, the Toyota Prius c is ideal for city driving with its compact footprint. But thanks to a clever design, there’s 35 inches of rear legroom and 17.1 cubic feet of cargo volume, making the Prius c one versatile, compact hybrid.

The compact hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes an Atkinson cycle to help increase efficiency. On its own, the engine churns out 73 horsepower and 82 pound-feet of torque, contributing to the hybrid’s total system output of 99 hp. It returns 48 mpg in the city, 43 mpg on the highway for a 46-mpg combined rating.
Pricing for the 2017 Toyota Prius c was not announced.
