The Outlander Sport is Mitsubishi’s most popular model and to keep it fresh, the company has introduced a new Limited Edition trim for the 2017 model year.
Debuting at the Chicago Auto Show, this variant of the Japanese brand’s compact crossover is situated above the base ES model. Accordingly, it features numerous appearance upgrades and, as always, an affordable price.
Catching your eye, it rolls on inky-black 18-inch wheels that look particularly aggressive on a small vehicle such as this. There’s also an alloy fuel-filler door, halogen fog lamps, HID headlights and black mirror housings to match the rims. When it comes to paint, there’s plenty of choice as Mitsubishi offers seven exterior colors.
Inside, passengers are treated to a few minor enhancements, including heated front buckets. All the seats are trimmed in dark-colored fabric, but red stitching on the shift knob, parking-brake handle and steering wheel adds a touch of drama to an otherwise dark cabin. The accelerator and brake pedals are also gussied up with aluminum covers for a sporty look.

Keeping tech lovers happy is a standard Display Audio System. With a colorful, touch-friendly screen this arrangement supports Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto.
Underneath the hood there’s no news to report. The Outlander Sport Limited Edition is motivated by a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, one that provides a rather unimpressive 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. It matched to a Sportronic continuously variable transmission.
What it lacks in speed, this crossover makes up for in efficiency. All-wheel drive is available, but if the just the front tires are powered this Mitsubishi should sticker at 24 miles per gallon in the city and 30 on highway drives. Its combined rating is an impressive 27 MPG.
Like other models in this company’s range this new Outlander model is protected by an extremely generous warranty. Bumper-to-bumper coverage is fully transferrable and lasts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. The vehicle’s powertrain is guaranteed for even longer, 10 years or 100,000 miles.
The 2017 Outlander Sport Limited Edition is set to arrive at dealerships in the U.S. later this month. You should be able to pick one up for right around $22,000.
