Mercedes-Benz is celebrating 38 years of the G-Class with three new special edition versions of the longstanding SUV.
The three special edition versions of the G-Class are based on the G 350 d, G 350 d Professional and the G 500, respectively. Each is different than the next, but all will feature “Schöckl proved since 1979” embossed stitching on the armrests – the name of the Austrian proving ground where Mercedes has tested the G-Class since its inception nearly 40 years ago.
The G 350 d Limited Edition is identified by its designo mocha black metallic exterior paint, standard Sports package, 5-spoke AMG wheels, chrome exterior trim, dark-tinted glass, heated windscreen and electric sliding/tilting sunroof. Inside, it gets saddle brown nappa leather upholstery, light brown stitching, an AMG steering wheel, piano black trim and a Harman Kardon audio system, among more.

Next is the G 350 d Professional Limited Edition, which is a bit more off-road focused. As such, it features rugged China Blue exterior paint, a steel front bumper, mud flaps, a roof rack and the Professional Off-Road package as standard. The interior features heated seats with plaid centers, a heated windscreen, navigation, Bluetooth, an auxiliary heater and more.
Rounding out the three limited-run G-Wagens is the G 500 Limited Edition. With designo platinum exterior paint, black trim, tinted glass and the Chrome and Sport package, the G 500 looks the most grown-up of these anniversary edition SUVs. The interior is set apart with a Harman Kardon audio system, a TV tuner and a heated windscreen, among more, and is joined by safety equipment such as Active Distance Assist cruise control and Blind Spot Assist.
In Germany, the G 350 d Limited Edition will start at 122,918 euros including taxes. The G 350 d Professional, meanwhile, will command 103,940 euros, with the G 500 coming in at 140, 164 euros. The G 350 d and G 500 are not offered in North America.
