Some of the baddest street cars of all time are little more than race cars with a few concessions thrown in to make them suitable for day-to-day use. The Jaguar XK-SS was barely more than a LeMans-spec D-Type with a passenger seat. Nissan would sell special editions of its Skyline GTR that were stripped down for Group N road-racing, while the Big Three were fond of selling drag-strip specials from the factory.
Putting plates on a real race car is a different matter, legally and otherwise, but it didn’t stop one French motorist from doing just that to a Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo. The Super Trofeo was developed for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo one-make series, with a production run of just 30 cars. Based on the LP560-4, the Supertrofeo pumps out 570 horsepower through Lamborghini’s 6-speed e-gear sequential transmission. With a curb weight of only 2900 lbs, the Super Trofeo should have no trouble getting away from any overly curious gendarmes or sportbikes.
