Having introduced the new Camaro with a 304-hp V6 engine, Chevy bumped that number up to 312 ponies for the 2011 model in order to keep pace with the Mustang. Now the rear-drive machine may get even more power.
Along with a list of small upgrades for 2012, the Camaro appears to be offered with a new ‘LFX’ V6 engine that gets variable valve timing and direct-injection. It will also be able to run on E85.
Rumors are circulating that the engine will deliver a slight bump on horsepower, pushing it closer to 330-hp.
More likely, however, is that the new engine will feature a short list of updates that include things like a lighter composite intake plenty, to help the hefty Camaro shed a few pounds.
