The Kia KV7 Concept debuted back at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, sporting all sorts of features foreign to a traditional minivan: gullwing side doors, rotating seats, wood flooring, retractable dash board, and even floating table-top touchscreen computers.

While we poked fun at the concept when it was first unveiled, it’s believed that the new Sedona minivan model will draw elements from the radical KV7 Concept. We reported back in May that the current Sedona model would get the axe and wouldn’t make an appearance as a 2013 model year, and though it’s not confirmed, it is now believed that the new Sedona will bow sometime before the end of next year and will take its overall shape from the KV7 Concept.

It would be a radical departure, especially in terms of styling, for the Sedona model even if it was just lightly influenced by the KV7 Concept. But Kia has done some great things in recent years to its lineup, and if anyone is going to deliver a ‘hip’ minivan, Kia is a good bet.
