We are probably more excited than SRT is for the Viper’s return to the American Le Man Series, but the brand and its race team has finally announced that the GTS-R will make it highly anticipated race debut at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge from August 2 through 4.
The race car was originally announced in April, and last month we saw footage of it going through testing. The Mid-Ohio race will function as a test because the team still has yet to finalize any other plans for the rest of the 2012 season – save the Petit Le Mans where Ryan Hunter-Raey will join the driving trio of Dominik Farnbacher, Marc Goossens, and Kuno Wittmer.
A pair of GTS-Rs will be competing at the Mid-Ohio race and undoubtedly SRT will be out to gather as much data as possible as it prepares for a full 2013 ALMS campaign.
