Newly appointed Cadillac global vice president, Robert Ferguson, confirmed that the ATS will be getting a coupe variant as originally planned, although no timetable was shared.
With Ferguson diving into his new position, the exec confirmed that the ATS coupe is incoming and that a wagon and convertible models aren’t going to become a reality. One thing he did admit however is that the ATS is a “great car, and we [Cadillac] need to have variations of it, and we will.”

Clearly that variation means a coupe but out in Europe, the American automaker may be introducing a diesel model as well. It will be a new diesel engine based on current engine architecture and will hopefully attract European consumers to the model, despite the lack of a wagon offering.
Also in the interview, Ferguson admitted that the third-generation CTS will be making its debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show later this year.
