When the Subaru WRX Concept first appeared in New York, it blew us away, but now as the production vehicle is unveiled at the 2013 LA Auto Show, we’re a little disappointed.
Mainly, the car isn’t just a huge update over the past model, making just three more horsepower and weight just about 50 lbs less. Then there’s the CVT, which just isn’t right in a performance vehicle.
Still, there’s almost 270-hp going to all four wheels and the manual transmission gets one more gear to play with. Compared to past WRX’s, the interior is a huge upgrade, with more soft-touch materials and premium features.

So far, there seems to be only a sedan version of the WRX available. The car certainly is eye-catching thanks to its flared fenders and hood-scoop, which helps feed that turbo-charged two-liter four-cylinder engine.
