The current-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom will live on until 2020, so don’t expect to see any major updates made to the British automaker’s flagship sedan.
Originally introduced in 2003, the Phantom got a Series II update in 2012 with revised styling, updated electronics and an eight-speed transmission. Given that it took nearly nine years for Rolls-Royce to give its Phantom a makeover, it’s not a huge surprise that it will be 2020 before the automaker gives it a complete overhaul.

According to the Director of Rolls-Royce Global Communications, Richard Carter, the Phantom has a planned 17-year lifecycle. Its luxurious price tag of around half-a-million is a good reason why; owners don’t exactly want their investment to become outdated so quickly.
Not surprisingly, little is known about the next-generation Phantom. For now, it’ll live on for at least another seven years.
