2014 Nissan GT-R NISMO

Nissan has done it yet again, with the GT-R laying down a Nurburgring lap time that simply demolishes the old car’s best effort.

Continually refined each year the new race inspired GT-R NISMO lays down dramatically faster lap times than the standard GT-R. Back in 2011 the GT-R managed what, at the time, was an incredible 7:24 run. The latest and greatest iteration of the car has, however, bested that by 16 seconds posting a 7:08.

That gives the GT-R NISMO the title of world’s fastest volume production car around the Nordschliefe.

To push this car past the standard GT-R, the NISMO team bumped up output on the car to 595 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque thanks to a larger turbocharger. Chassis, suspension and aerodynamic tweaks complete the upgrades.

The record-setting lap was performed by Nissan racing pilot and test-driver Michael Krumm, and there was a camera on hand to capture the action. Check it out in the videos below.
