Editors Note: Hyundai spokesman Jim Trainor has contacted AutoGuide to clarify the original report below. Hyundai Motor America CEO Dave Zuchowski did in fact confirm that a new Tucson would arrive next year, however, that model is separate from a proposed sub-compact crossover that has not yet been given the green light for production.
Hyundai is planning to go smaller in the crossover segment with an all-new model debuting in 2016.
The new crossover will be smaller than the Tucson (pictured), which means it will compete in the B-segment along with the Nissan Juke and Cube, Fiat 500L and even the upcoming Jeep Renegade. The sub-compact crossover promises to be affordable and will be one of four major launches the Korean automaker has in store for the coming years.

Most recently, Hyundai revealed that its all-new Sonata sedan will make its auto show debut in New York. An all-new Tucson is set to follow before a completely new Elantra hits the market. One vehicle we won’t be seeing any time soon however is the addition of a minivan, as Hyundai currently has no interests in developing one.
