Toyota’s newest rally car might not be competition ready, but we’ll be able to see it in action next month.
The Japanese automaker will debut its new GT86 CS-R3 rally car at the ninth round of the FIA World Rally Championship during the ADAC Rallye Deutschland from August 21-24. The GT86 CS-R3 will act as the race’s official pathfinder zero car with Isolde Holderied behind the wheel, a two-time women’s rally champion.

Holderied will help evaluate the CS-R3 rally car during the race and provide feedback to Toyota’s engineers to help make the final adjustments for the race car. The 2.0-liter Boxer-four engine has been enhanced to provide between 237 and 246 hp, which is a noticeable increase from the factory 200-hp figure. The powerplant is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission while the vehicle itself has gone on a diet and has been equipped with a limited-slip differential and roll cage.
