Audi Confirms Third TT Variant in the Works

The Audi TT family is definitely growing.

The German automaker has confirmed that a third TT variant is in the works, joining the coupe and roadster in the TT lineup. Though Audi R&D Chief Ulrich Hackenburg wouldn’t elaborate on what the third model is, it is likely that it’ll be based on the TT Offroad concept as a crossover-based sports car.

The news comes as Audi launches the third-generation TT in Europe with Hackenburg noting that the TT Offroad that was unveiled at this year’s Beijing Motor Show “provides an insight into how we might envisage a new model in a future TT family.”

The Audi TT roadster will make its official debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show before going on sale in Europe next spring. The Audi TT coupe won’t make its way to the U.S. until the third quarter of 2015 with the roadster following in 2016.
