Ferrari will be increasing its production once Sergio Marchionne takes the helm.
Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, will become Ferrari chairman on October 13 and plans to gradually boosting production of models such as the F12 Berlinetta to keep up with the growing numbers of affluent customers. According to Marchionne, production will increase so long as the demographic increases in order to avoid having long wait lists for the Italian automaker’s exotics.

Marchionne’s plan is a sharp contrast to former Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, who wanted to limit Ferrari’s production to 7,000 units annually to protect the brand’s exclusivity. Montezemolo recently resigned as chairman after 23 years following a clash with Marchionne. Earlier this year, Marchionne indicated that Ferrari has the potential to sell about 10,000 vehicles per year.
