The Lamborghini Urus could be one of the most expensive SUVs ever.

According to a recent report, the Urus could be priced similar to the Huracán, which starts at around $237,250. The news comes courtesy of Eginardo Bertoli, Lamborghini Japan GM of sales and marketing, who said that Urus production is expected to begin in late 2017 with deliveries starting in 2018. At least in Japan, the SUV will be priced close to the Huracán “to maintain the brand’s position as premium,” Bertoli said.

Interestingly enough, despite all the reports that Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has locked in a 2017 production date for the Urus, board member for research and development at the company Maurizio Reggiani said that production of the high-end SUV has not yet been confirmed and the Volkswagen Group has not given it the green light. That appears to be a formality at this point as the Urus has plenty of supporters at the highest levels within Lamborghini’s parent company. As for pricing, Reggiani said that the Urus would be more or less like the Huracán, but emphasized that at the moment pricing isn’t important but rather approval from the group is.
