2016 Cadillac ELR Debut Delayed

The 2016 Cadillac ELR was supposed to make its debut in L.A. this year, but it was a no show.

Originally on the L.A. Auto Show’s world debut page, the 2016 Cadillac ELR was removed a week before the show with no explanation. According to a recent report, the ELR has been delayed as the American automaker continues to fine-tune the electrified luxury coupe’s autonomous driving technologies and as a result, its debut has been delayed indefinitely. Nicknamed ELR 2.0, it is being touted as a “highly autonomous vehicle” and will likely be the first with GM’s new Super-Cruise feature.

It is also likely that GM will debut the next-generation Volt prior to showing off what it has in the works for the ELR. Considering the ELR and the Volt share the same platform, it would make sense for the luxury variant to also benefit from the Volt’s new electric powertrain. Either way, it appears that Cadillac has some exciting things in store for the ELR in hopes of making it a formidable offering in what’s becoming a popular segment.
