ford racing king cobra

In case desert temperatures weren’t enough things are really heating up in Las Vegas because Ford just revealed a certifiably bad-a** Mustang, the King Cobra.

This modified 2015 pony features a host of off-the-shelf performance parts from Ford Racing. The car is up-fitted with the company’s “Drag Pack,” “Handling Pack” and “Super Pack,” enhancements that dramatically improve its chassis, driveline and engine.

The King Cobra’s most enticing enhancement is, of course, found under the hood. Thanks to a supercharger the car’s 5.0-liter V8 engine has been tuned to deliver more than 600 hp. The blower was co-developed with Roush Performance.

Feeding the hungry supercharger everything it needs is an upgraded intake manifold, high-flow injectors and fuel rails, a bigger throttle-body, an air-to-liquid intercooler and special computer tuning to make it all play nicely together.

But what does 600 hp actually mean? Well, an early-build version of the car annihilated the quarter mile in 10.97 seconds at 128 miles an hour. Is that fast enough for you?
