If there’s one thing both the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S lacks, it’s power.

Aftermarket suppliers embraced the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S long before they reached U.S. dealers. One thing that everyone can probably agree on is that both the BRZ and FR-S could benefit from more power to go with their handling and style.

While there are plenty of performance enhancing products available including a supercharger kit from Vortech, world famous tuner Cosworth has now released detailed information along with a pair of videos that showcase its power packages.

The Cosworth Stage 1 Power Package for the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S delivers 36 percent more power in the mid-range with an additional 40 hp at 4,100 RPM. Within the Stage 1 Power Package are different tiers to accommodate various budgets with the 1.0 coming with a new air filter, thermostat and custom ECU tune that raises peak power by 15 hp. Stage 1.1 adds a catback exhaust system to the package to give the sports coupe 20 hp while Stage 1.2 includes a resonated midpipe that provides an additional 5 hp. Maximizing performance on a budget is the Stage 1.3 package that includes a lightweight, thermal barrier coated header that gives the BRZ and FR-S a total of 230 hp.

Those that want even more performance can opt for the Stage 2 Power Package, which adds up to 80 hp for the BRZ and FR-S that adds a supercharger to the 2.0-liter engine. If this sounds familiar, the 2014 Scion Tuner Challenge winner was the first vehicle to be equipped with the kit at this year’s SEMA Show.
