The 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon doesn’t officially open its doors until later this evening, but AutoGuide.com managed to sneak in to get some photos of what we can expect when the show officially kicks off.
Gazoo Racing isn’t wasting anytime getting its hands dirty with the all-new Toyota Mirai. Sure it’s a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle built for a cleaner environment, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun to drive. The Mirai comes standard with an electric motor providing 153 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque and we’re confident that Gazoo Racing has found a way to capitalize on the Mirai’s potential.
We’ve already seen the tuning potential of the new Lexus RC at last year’s SEMA Show and it’s no surprise that Japanese tuners are embracing the newest sports coupe from Toyota’s luxury arm. This is just one of several Lexus RC coupes at the 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon built with a VIP theme – large wheels and low ride stance while the black paint fits the luxury theme perfectly.
2015 Tokyo Auto Salon Coverage
We first saw the Tjin Edition widebody Honda Fit at last year’s SEMA Show and now it has made the trek to Tokyo, Japan. Housed at the Coplus booth, the custom sheetmetal widebody Fit with Forgestar wheels and bright pink brake calipers is giving Japanese enthusiasts a dose of what American tuners are all about. We expect the new Honda Fit to be popular with the Japanese tuning crowd.
It wouldn’t be Tokyo Auto Salon if we didn’t spotlight a Nissan GT-R even in a preview story. Showing off its 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 race car, Nissan is looking to build off a strong 2014 where it returned to the SEMA Show in a bid to further appeal to tuning enthusiasts. Joining the GT-R NISMO GT3 is several of Nissan’s other models including the Juke, 370Z, March and Note.
Check back later this evening for full coverage of this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon.
