Chevrolet Silverado Custom Puts Value First

Chevrolet debuted a new trim package for its Silverado half-ton pickup truck today at the Chicago Auto Show.

GM first announced the “Custom” trim in early January ahead of its debut here in the Midwest. Making its in-person debut today, the pickup is based on the Silverado LS, but adds 20-inch aluminum wheels, chrome bumpers, mirror caps, chrome door handles and a body-colored top cap above the front bumper.

It also comes with a 40/20/40 cloth front seat, cruise control, power locks and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel along with a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot (like all new GM products).

Chevrolet will offer the “Custom” trim with either the 4.3-liter V6 or the volume-selling 5.3-liter V8 that accounts for most sales. Chevrolet says a well-equipped V8 model will start at $33,820.

GM is targeting customers looking for an affordable truck with a slightly more premium outward appearance with the Custom trim by basing it on LS trim level, which is the second-least expensive in the Silverado lineup.
