Cadillac might be planning an even more extreme version of the new ATS-V.
Speaking at the recent media launch of the Cadillac ATS-V in Texas, chief engineer David Leone was asked whether the American automaker is considering an ATS-V variant to take on the Mercedes-Benz Black Series models. His reply? “We might have something down the road that is a little bit more aggressive.” According to Car and Driver, one source said that the more extreme version could come to market by 2017.

The new Cadillac ATS-V churns out 464 hp while the larger CTS-V provides 640 hp, so Cadillac definitely has room to work with if it wants to further expand the ATS-V offerings.
What will make the new ATS-V even hotter? Don’t expect all-wheel drive or a dual-clutch transmission, as Leone pointed to weight as the reason that neither of those options are available for the new ATS-V. If anything, expect it to get lighter and more powerful.
