Cadillac has plans to expand its V-Series performance lineup.
“The ‘V’ will be on more models than today,” Dave Leone, Cadillac chief engineer told The Detroit Bureau. The brand has already announced the ATS-V and CTS-V, both of which will join the ranks in the coming months. Exactly which cars are coming with the V badge is unknown, but Leone was clear that the Cadillac V-Series performance lineup will not include the Escalade or the SRX.

That leaves the brand’s freshly announced CT6 as the first possible car to get the V treatment. Past that, a small sedan that will slot underneath the ATS and compete with the BMW 1 Series is also in the works at Cadillac and would make another prime candidate for joining the Cadillac V-series performance lineup. Finally, at least two more crossovers will be released by the American luxury brand before the end of the decade, one of which could end up with the V badge.
Moving forward, Cadillac’s engineers are looking for a way to make its performance cars more fuel efficient, with electrified powertrains on the table as an option. For now though, the company will stick with gasoline-powered engines and lightweight construction technology.
