Mercedes is getting ready to renew its convertible lineup.
The German brand will first update the SL, followed by updating the smaller SLK which is being renamed the SLC (spy photos seen above). Finally, Mercedes will add a drop-top variant to its new AMG GT sports car.
The SL will undergo a massive facelift that will arrive in 2016. The car will wear the same design as modern Mercedes models such as the AMG GT, while the interior will also be updated with the latest infotainment system and electronics. While just about everything you can see on the car will change, there will be very few changes under the skin. A brand new generation of SL is expected in 2019.

As for the SLC, it will receive a much more modest facelift compared to the SL, which will arrive next spring. Under the hood, Mercedes is expected to offer a turbocharged four cylinder, a V6 and the new twin-turbo 4.0-liter AMG V8. Some of these engines will be hooked up to a nine-speed automatic.
Finally, Mercedes will roll out a roadster version of the AMG GT, likely sometime after the updated SL hits the market. The roadster has already been fully designed, though Mercedes held it back to help out sales of the SL. The AMG GT convertible will feature a soft top and will use the same twin-turbo V8 as the coupe model.
