An FCA employee has died while working at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit.
The man, whose name has not been released, was found at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, after having been crushed by a machine press. First responders were dispatched, but the man succumbed to his injuries before they arrived. He was crushed while working in the wastewater treatment plant.
“FCA US has had a tragic accident at its Jefferson North Assembly Plant during the first shift this morning,” company spokeswoman Jodi Tinson said in statement. “The company is currently working with local officials to investigate the incident.”
The Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled at the plant. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
