Audi isn’t wasting time putting its next-generation A5 to the test.

AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers already caught the 2017 Audi A5 testing on the back roads of Germany, and just a day later, Audi has taken its luxury sports coupe to the Nurburgring for testing. Although it’s just as camouflaged as it was before, it’s great to see the 2017 Audi A5 tearing up the track.

The new Audi A5 will be built on the company’s latest MLB Evo platform, which also underpins the 2016 Audi A4 sedan. Contributing to helping the coupe lose weight, the new A5 is expected to weigh 200 to 250 lbs less compared to its predecessor. As for the styling, don’t expect it to be significantly different than the current A5 as you can tell from the spy photos. Audi will give it changes consistent with its design language, with the front bumper gaining similarities from the new Audi R8.

The 2017 Audi A5 is expected to debut next fall as a 2017 model. Joining the A5 in the lineup will be the high-performance variants S5 and RS5.
