A recent study has revealed the top color choices for male and female car buyers.

By analyzing 25-million car sales, iSeeCars.com compared gender and auto trends to determine which car colors men like better than women and vice versa.

Overall, the study found that men prefer bright and vibrant shades while women opted for more neutral and natural colors. Topping the list of car colors men prefer over women is orange, rising to the top rank for 2014 jumping from a second place finish a year prior. The biggest change to the list last year was brown, jumping from an 11th place finish in 2013 to second place for 2014. The third color men preferred over women was yellow, rising from seventh place in 2013.

Color choices for women stayed fairly consistent with gold ranking highest, jumping from third place in 2013. Following gold, women preferr silver and beige as their color choices for vehicles. In 2013, silver was the most popular color among women car shoppers with a 9.2-percent bias while last year there was a 7.1-percent female bias towards the shade.

“Orange is the new hot car color when it comes to men’s preferences,” said Phong Ly, CEO of iSeeCars.com. “The most popular car colors—black, white and silver—didn’t change dramatically, but what’s striking is how much more interest men have for the nontraditional colors now.”
