Jaguar Land Rover is getting ready to expand its Ingenium family of engines.
The British automaker will phase out its current V6 offerings for new inline six-cylinder engines that are expected to debut next year. The Ingenium family of engines were designed to be modular, so it was only a matter of time before six-cylinder mills were produced. According to a recent report from CAR, the new six-cylinder engine will be a 3.0-liter turbocharged unit available in gasoline and diesel form that will result in a total of six variants with a wide range of performance.
The standard gasoline six-cylinder mill will produce 300, 400 and 500 horsepower, while the diesel engine will generate 275, 335 and 400 hp.

The new six-cylinder engines will be lighter weight and more fuel efficient compared to today’s V6 offerings, while drawing inspiration from Jaguar’s rich heritage of straight-six engines. The powerplants will be used across both automaker’s lineups, so expect to see them under the hood of the Jaguar XE, XF, F-Pace and XJ as well as Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Discovery models.
