Toyota continues to be the best global brand out of all automakers according to Interbrand.

The Best Global Brands of 2016 Rankings have been announced with Toyota (+9%) landing in fifth place overall, behind Apple, Google, Coca-Cola and Microsoft. That’s an improvement from its sixth-place overall finish last year. Looking at the automakers that made the list, Mercedes-Benz (+18%) was ninth overall, followed by BMW (+12%) at 11, Honda (-4%) at 21 and Ford (+12%) at 33. That means this year, Mercedes-Benz managed to pass BMW on the overall rankings after finishing behind its rival by one position in 2015.

The survey calculates the financial performance of a particular brand, its overall influence and the profit potential of the brand in order to determine the rankings.
