An outrageous new Italian supercar has been spied testing, and it looks like something to get excited about.

Dallara is an Italian company most well-known for developing chassis for very successful race cars, and it appears the company is now working on a street-legal supercar. Spy photographers have caught this camouflaged supercar prototype testing in Germany, and it appears to be Lotus-sized. Its weight and estimated specs also point to the Dallara being a serious Lotus competitor.

Advanced aerodynamics and a targeted weight of just 1,764 pounds (800 kg) will help this supercar’s speed, but power is expected to come from the same 2.3-liter Ford EcoBoost four-cylinder that’s in the Focus RS. That engine puts out 350 hp and lb-ft of torque in the RS, but will be uptuned to output around 380 to 400 hp in the Dallara.

The extreme race-inspired design and bubble canopy will help set this car apart. Of course, production for this exotic will likely be extremely limited, but a debut is expected for later this year.
