The Number 7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid race car has set a new lap record at Le Mans.
Piloted by Kamui Kobayashi, the Toyota TS050 Hybrid stopped the clock at 3:14.791, making it the new all-time lap record at the 8.469-mile Circuit de la Sarthe. The run came on a set of fresh medium tires, but Kobayashi was able to take advantage of the lack of traffic on the track following a red flag.

Ex-Toyota driver Alex Wurz tweeted about the all-time record, saying that conditions were ideal with light traffic and a strong tailwind.
There’s still one more nighttime qualifying session left, so there’s a chance we may see a faster lap yet. But for now, it looks like Toyota will be sitting on the pole for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
