The Rolls-Royce Dawn Aero Cowling has been unveiled ahead of its presentation at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

The Dawn Aero Cowling is differentiated from the standard Dawn by its aerodynamically optimized cover over the rear seats. The removable cowling transforms the Dawn into a two-seater, but allows it to be turned back into a four-seat vehicle on a whim. Rolls-Royce describes the Dawn as the “most social of all open-top luxury cars,” so it’s important that it retains its ability to carry four passengers in speed, comfort and luxury.

Rolls-Royce made the cowling out of carbon fiber and aluminum for lightness and strength. The cowling also contains two integrated leather-lined storage compartments, allowing for easy-access storage behind the front two seats. The cowl has been sculpted to “gracefully” channel the air flowing over the vehicle, Rolls-Royce says, reducing turbulent air and enhancing passenger comfort.

The Dawn Aero Cowling show car for Geneva is painted in a Cassiopeia Silver exterior shade and will also feature 21-inch alloy wheels and a Casden Tan leather interior with Selby Grey piping and stitching and black contrasting elements. It will be joined by two special versions of the new Phantom in the automaker’s booth, and a special Phantom Long Wheelbase. You can view all three in the gallery above before the show kicks off later this week.
