New for 2020: The Genesis GV80, the brand’s first ever SUV made its official North American debut at a dedicated event in Miami prior to Super Bowl LIV. The GV80 continues the “Athletic Elegance” design language Genesis showed off on the 2017 concept of the same name. That translates to a bold diamond-shaped grille up front, with unique, bisected headlights flanking it. It’s a big rig, the GV80, but the gently curving character line along the flanks gives it a more graceful and less aggressive stance. It is built on a Genesis-specific platform which will also underpin the next-gen G80 sedan.

The cabin is as you would expect from a luxury brand and something even the Germans would take note of. Staples like leather and real wood abound inside. The interior design is minimalist, with the vents integrated into the dash for a clean look. A 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system sits perched on the dash. The screen can be operated by the Captive Control Pad or CCP for short. It’s a rotary type dial that is equipped to recognize handwriting. The infotainment system features gesture control as well. The design team has deliberately placed physical buttons for added functionality as well.
Engine options at launch include two turbocharged options: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V6. Exact power levels are still in the air, but expect slightly south of 300 hp for the smaller engine and around 380 for the six-pot.
Genesis GV80 pricing starts just under $50,000 including destination. For $49,925 buyers can get into a rear-drive 2.5T model, in white with a solid black interior. V6 models come only with AWD, kicking off at $60,175 and running to north of $70k for all the bells and whistles.
